My Leadership Journey

​

In my early 20s I became the pastor of a small church, a position that quickly revealed just how much I still had to learn. It was a humbling experience, but one that ignited a deep desire to grow—not just as a leader but as someone who could genuinely guide and inspire others. Around that time, I came across the teachings of John Maxwell, whose insights on leadership would go on to shape my own philosophy.

I remember picking up my first Maxwell book in 1985, and I’ve been a devoted follower ever since. John’s approach to leadership—based on influence, integrity, and intentionality—resonated with me on a deep level. It wasn't just about managing people; it was about empowering them to become better versions of themselves.

​

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of serving in various leadership roles. From leading a church to guiding a nonprofit organization and even directing two Executive Branch Agencies under the appointment of two different Georgia governors, I've come to appreciate the importance of visionary leadership and the responsibility it carries. Each of these experiences taught me valuable lessons about perseverance, innovation, and the power of influence.

In 2009, I had the honor of serving as a State Representative in the Georgia General Assembly. It was there that I learned how to lead across party lines, building relationships based on mutual respect and shared goals. This experience taught me that leadership is about more than making decisions—it's about creating an environment where people can collaborate, grow, and thrive.

Through my work in ministry, business, and government, I’ve discovered that true leadership is about adding value to others—helping them unlock their potential and guiding them on their journey toward greatness. This belief, grounded in the principles I learned from John Maxwell, has become the foundation of LifePoint Leadership.

​

Today, I’m passionate about developing leaders—whether it’s through keynote speaking, coaching, workshops, or Master Mind groups. I know firsthand that leadership is a journey, not a destination. Every step taken, every challenge overcome, is part of the process of becoming the leader you were always meant to be. It’s my mission to help others step into their full potential and lead with purpose, integrity, and influence.
